Behavior Based Approaches
A behavior-based approach is what separates a safe, thoughtful daycare from guesswork. Dogs aren't all the same, and they shouldn't be treated that way. By focusing on body language, play style, and individual thresholds, we can prevent issues before they start and support confident, appropriate social behavior. At Bark House, decisions are made based on what each dog is communicating, not based on assumptions, creating a more stable and successful group environment.
How it Works
Every dog is evaluated on body language, play style, and thresholds. After completing all parts of the behavior evaluation, they are then placed into groups that reflect how they naturally engage.
We actively manage groups, watching for dynamic changes and subtle behaviors like overarousal, avoidance, overstimulation, fear, anxiety, stress or tension and step in to guide, redirect, or separate before behaviors escalate.
Dogs are grouped by compatibility, not convenience. We don't force interaction, we support appropriate engagement and respect each dogs' emotions.
This allows us to prevent problems, creating a kennel environment that is stable, predictable, and built around the dog.
